Brief
Overview:
PersaCon prohibits the following:
-
Weapons
prohibited under Alabama law
-
Real
guns (working, disabled, or otherwise)
-
Metal
blades (knives, swords, sharp wings, etc.)
-
Projectile
weapons (pellet guns, airsoft rifles, disc guns, etc.)
-
Loaded
water pistols or other liquid "weapons"
-
Practice
swords (unless they can be peace bound into a scabbard of some sort)
-
Any
other potentially harmful weapon/prop as determined by PersaCon
Security.
If
you have a potential weapon or potentially dangerous prop, please
bring it to the PersaCon Security office upon arriving at the
convention. If approved, Security will peace bond the item. If not
approved, you will be asked to remove it from the convention
premises.
Security
is not able to pre-approve weapons and props before the convention.
A determination can only be made after actually handling and
inspecting the object in question.
Full
Policy:
Security
must approve all potential weapons and such items must remain
sheathed or holstered at all times. PersaCon policy is that attendees
may not carry anything that resembles a real weapon during the
convention unless it is in a holster or sheath and peace bonded. All
attendees must take any item that may be possibly construed as a
weapon that they intend to carry on their person during the
convention to the Security office for approval and proper peace
bonding by Security staff. If Security asks an attendee to remove an
item deemed a weapon, we ask they take it immediately to their hotel
room or off convention property.
PersaCon
will ask any attendee found wearing a potential weapon that has not
been peace bonded by Security to take it to Security for approval.
Security will deal with repeated offenses accordingly, up to and
including ejection from the convention without refund.
Peace
bonding means that you allow us to put a bright plastic tie on your
"weapon" indicating that it has been judged relatively
harmless and/or is being bound into a holder of some sort that
renders it so. These ties can only be removed by cutting them, making
it obvious if tampering should occur. Anyone who has a weapon or prop
that could possibly viewed as dangerous (even a little bit) needs to
visit Security to have it approved and, if necessary, peace bound.
Any weapons that aren't approved and/or can't be peace bound are
welcome to stay in the Security office where they will be babysat
until they are brought home or locked away in the safety of your
room. If you're found walking about the convention with a
questionable object, you will be asked to bring it to Security to
have it checked over. Each item will be judged individually so that
the safety of all is addressed firstly.
We
thank you for your support and understanding.

the payment process. If we do not receive this form within two weeks
of registration, the child's registration will be cancelled, with no
refund provided.
-
Any person found attempting to
forge a membership badge, or presenting forged ID, will be removed
from the convention and may be banned from future PersaCon events.
-
Any attempt to compromise the
security of the registration process or gain unauthorized access to

system, loss of PersaCon 2008 registration without refund, and
possible legal action.
-
These policies may be modified at any time, as deemed
necessary by PersaCon 2008.

Convention
Drug and Alcohol Policy
STATE
AND FEDERAL LAWS MANDATE THAT DRUGS SUCH AS MARIJUANA, ECSTACY,
COCAINE, HEROINE, AND OTHER, SIMILAR ITEMS ARE ILLEGAL
SUBSTANCES.
PersaCon
does not authorize or endorse the use of drugs while engaging in any
convention activities or in areas in use by the convention. We
reserve the right to revoke convention membership without refund for
any reason, including the discovery of an attendee under the
influence of illegal substances. PersaCon staff will support all
applicable local, state, and federal laws regarding illegal
substances. The convention will contact local law enforcement for
issues of suspected drug use.
STATE
AND FEDERAL LAWS ALSO MANDATE THAT IT IS PROHIBITED FOR INDIVIDUALS
UNDER THE AGE OF 21 TO DRINK ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES. The legal age for
drinking alcohol is 21. Our over 21 attendees are allowed to consume
alcohol outside of the convention area in a responsible, civilized
manner. We require that our under 21 attendees refrain from drinking
at our convention.
PersaCon
prohibits the consumption of alcohol in public areas in use by the
convention. We will follow all convention center and hotel guidelines
regarding consumption of alcohol in shared public areas.
If
convention staff finds an attendee over the age of 21 drinking in a
convention area, the convention staff will ask them to take their
beverage to their room. If they are not a registered guest of the
hotel, the convention or hotel staff will ask they discard their
beverage. If it the convention suspects an attendee over the age of
21 is intoxicated, the proper authorities will be notified to perform
an evaluation.
If
convention staff suspects an attendee under the age of 21 is drinking
or intoxicated, a staff member will contact the proper authorities.
PersaCon does NOT authorize, endorse, or condone underage drinking
under any circumstances. We will follow all local, state, and federal
guidelines regarding underage drinking.
Although
the convention does not prohibit "Room Parties", we
encourage all hosts to be responsible for their party and their
guests. Convention security staff will be active in ensuring that
your party does not infringe on the other guests of the convention
and the guests of the hotel. We remind you that the legal drinking
age is 21 in Alabama. We encourage you to enjoy your parties
thoroughly, but also responsibly.

20% of the total amount. However, please remember that tipping is
based upon good service. If at any point a hotel employee is rude or
antagonistic towards you, please inform convention operations.

-
PersaCon
staff reserve the right to revoke your convention membership and
eject anyone at anytime from the convention without a refund.
-
Please
follow the directions of the PersaCon staff and security. They are
there to make your experience more enjoyable, not to hinder or hurt
you. Anyone who refuses to comply with any reasonable requests asked
by any member of PersaCon staff/security or Bevill Center
staff/security will be subject to removal from the convention.
-
If
you have any problems, questions, or concerns, please contact an
PersaCon staff member. They will be happy to assist you.
